| Tan-y-Garth is owned by Gwydyr
Mountain Club and is situated in woodland at the base of Moel Siabod -
the area is very scenic, peaceful but convenient and offers a wealth of
wildlife, birds and pipistrelle bats - it offers comfortable self
catering accommodation in the heart of Snowdonia National Park at a
reasonable price The property is an old stone cottage built towards the end of the nineteenth century. Although having been fully modernised there is a relatively steep narrow staircase which may prove difficult for disabled people. Tan-y-Garth is a NON-SMOKING establishment Accommodation The cottage offers sleeping accommodation for six comprising twin bedded room, double room and there is a double sofa bed in the dining room There are pillows and duvets on the double and single beds and some additional blankets along with duvets and pillows for the sofa bed. You should bring your own bed linen and towels. The accommodation downstairs includes kitchen, dining and sitting room.
Electricity (including the convector heater in the sitting room )is supplied through a £1 meter . Two storage heaters operate automatically on a time lock which cost is included in the charge for the cottage. We do welcome pets although we would appreciate if they were not allowed to sleep on the beds or furniture and that any dog excrement is disposed of carefully. We appreciate that this probably goes without saying and we would hope that this does not offend in any way. We do ask for £5.00 per dog per week. Dogs own bed or bedding is essential Off road parking for two vehicles is available Tan-y-Garth is easy to find - from Betws-y-Coed follow the A5 towards Capel Curig - on reaching the village boundary sign continue past a lay-by and 30 mph sign and then take the next turning on the left at Pont Cyfyng - follow this minor road over the river, past a few cottages and a converted chapel on the right - after about half a mile Tan-y-Garth is on the right - take the track marked by a public footpath sign. The location of the property can be found on OS Map, Land ranger 1:50,000 series - Sheet 115 - Snowdon & surrounding area - Grid ref: 737568. Nearby Capel Curig has a general store and Post Office which sells groceries, newspapers, wines and spirits etc. There are 3 cafes and 3 Hotels which all provide bar meals (1.5 miles). There are shops, a Bank and Restaurants in Betws-y-Coed (5 miles) and the market town of Llanrwyst is 8 miles away. The nearest public telephone is at the end of the minor road at its junction with the A5.
Weekends only are not available from 5 April to 1st November(although the Secretary has the discretion to accept a booking if the weekend requested happens to be vacant.)Short Breaks (minimum of three nights ) during this period are only bookable NOT MORE THAN 14 DAYS before the commencement date of the stay The cottage should be vacated by 11.00am on day of departure and will be avialble from 4.00pm on day of arrival A deposit of £30 is required to secure a reservation with the balance being payable in full six weeks before arrival date Please feel free to contact us for our Visitors Guide or to make a reservation |
